BREAKING NEWS: Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has selected California Senator and former 2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris as his vice presidential running mate.
Kamala Harris is now:
The first African-American woman to be nominated on a major-party ticket.
The first Asian-American to be nominated on a major-party ticket.
The fourth woman to be nominated on a major-party ticket (the three previous ones were Geraldine Ferraro, Sarah Palin, and Hillary Clinton).
And if elected, will be:
The first woman to serve as Vice President.
The first Asian-American to serve as Vice President.
The first African-American to serve as Vice President.
The first Democratic Californian to serve as Vice President.
Set up as the leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2024 if Biden chooses not to seek re-election.
Kamala Harris and Joe Biden will appear at a campaign event in Delaware, tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12th.
Harris will be officially nominated alongside Biden at the Democratic National Convention, taking place from Monday, August 17th, to Thursday, August 20th.
Harris will face Vice President Mike Pence in a debate on October 7th.
Biden and Trump will face off three times: on September 29th, October 15th, and October 22nd.
Voters will choose the President on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.
