New online class:

athena's advanced academy

Join us on May 18th, at 1:00 PM Pacific time, for a class on "American Third Parties: A History of Perennial Candidates and Defying the Mainstream," taught by founder and director of GOVLEARN Luke Gialanella. Conducted through Athena's Advanced Academy during their Junior Presenters Week, Luke will engage students in a discussion on the history and future of third parties in the US. The United States’ two-party system has often been considered flawed for being incredibly rigid on political ideology. If you are a liberal, you should vote Democratic, and if you are a conservative, you should vote Republican. But it isn’t as simple as that. In this seminar, we will look at and discuss the history and present of American third parties, both absurd and legitimate, who participated in American elections, as well as how those parties have affected the present-day American political climate. You can click the link here to sign up now, for a small price of either $6 or $10 to be donated to the United Nations Development Program to aid developing countries amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. Stay tuned on this new section of the GOVLEARN website to learn of new opportunities for civics learning through GOVLEARN.
